Dr. Maohua WANG is now a professor at the College of Information & Electrical Engineering, China Agricultural University (CAU) in Beijing, China. As a distinguished national and international scholar, Prof. Wang represents the generation that bridges the preceding and modern agricultural engineers in China. Prof. Wang was appointed as the Director of Academic Committee on Key Laboratory of Modern Precision Agriculture System Integration Research under the Ministry of Education and the Director of Key Laboratory on Agricultural Information Acquisition under the Ministry of Agriculture. He was honorably elected as the Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) in 1995, the Fellow of the International Commission of Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering (CIGR) in 2006, and the Member of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences in 2007.

Prof. Wang completed his undergraduate education majoring in Agricultural Machinery at former Beijing Institute of Agricultural Mechanization (current CAU) in 1956 and got his Ph. D. at Moscow Tymilyazev Agricultural Academy majoring in Rural Electrification and Automation in 1962. Since October, 1962, he has started his carrier at his alma mater up to now.

Prof. Wang served as the Vice President of former Beijing Agricultural Engineering University (current CAU) from 1984 to 1990 and was appointed by the Ministry of China’s National Education Committee as guest professor to serve Asian Institute of Technology at Bangkok, Thailand from 1991 to 1992. From 1985 to 2003, he was appointed as the First Convener of Discipline Assessment Group on Agricultural Engineering under the State Academic Degree Commission, China. Besides, he was appointed as the Panel Member of FAO on Agricultural Engineering from 1990 to1994, Deputy Director of Session 4, International Commission of Agricultural Engineering (CIGR), Full Member of the International Club of Bologna on Strategies for the Development of Agricultural Mechanization in Italy and as the member of International Advisory Editorial Board for 5 AE & ICT International Scientific Journals in the world.

His current research interests include new-generation of Information Technology and Data Technology for agriculture, biological and agricultural sensing technologies, intelligent agricultural equipment, and so on. He is a leading expert to promote Information Technology, Data Technology and Artificial Intelligent for Smart Agriculture in China as well as Agricultural and Biological Systems Engineering Technological Innovation and Development Strategy Research, etc. By the lastest regulation, as the member of CAE, he will work in his whole life to serve technological innovation based on his health.
