On August 24, 2017, Dr. Yanbin Li, Distinguished Professor of the University of Arkansas, visited USDA/ARS Beltsville Agricultural Research Center and met with Dr. Howard Zhang, the Center Director, and Dr. Jiujiang Yu of the Food Quality Laboratory and Dr. Bin Zhou of the Environmental Microbial and Food Safety Laboratory. They discussed potential collaboration between the project team and the researchers of the center in the area of food safety, specifically rapid detection of foodborne pathogens and toxins in food supply chain. Dr. Li also toured their laboratories.
USDA/ARS Agricultural Research Center at Beltsville, MD is the largest one among all ARS laboratories nationwide. The Center was established in 1910 and now has more than 600 scientists and supporting people with over 6600 acres of land, and covers all disciplines in agriculture and food, including animal science, food science, and biological engineering.
