Presentations at AAFP 2017 Annual Meeting

The 9th Annual Arkansas Association of Food Protection (AAFP) conference was held on September 19-21 in Springdale, Arkansas. Four members of our project team attended the AAFP 2017 Annual Meeting. Dr. Ronghui Wang gave a poster presentation with the title “An electrochemical aptasensor for rapid detection of Salmonella Typhimurium in poultry based on the bifunctional magnetic nanocomposites”. Three graduate students Xiaofan Yu (Ph.D.), Xinge Xi (Ph.D.) and America Sotero (Master) attended the student poster competition. The titles of their poster presentations were “Selection of DNA aptamers using whole-bacterium SELEX for rapid detection of E.coli O157:H7 with a QCM sensor”, “A fluorescent biosensor using quantum dots, magnetic nanoparticles and microfluidics for in-field detection of foodborne bacteria” and “Rapid Detection of Salmonella Typhimurium in poultry using a portable immunosensing system”, respectively. America Sotero won the 1st place in Category 4 of the poster competition.
