Our project team
carried out a three-week demonstration experiment at TianRun food co.,
LTD. (New Hope LiuHe) in Shandong, Qingdao on May 23, 2019.
The purpose of the demonstration experiment was to test the feasibility of our rapid salmonella
detection technology. It was developed for the Walmart project to
monitor risk factors at key points in the poultry supply chain, and to
test the performance of the integrated salmonella monitoring and risk warning system in the poultry (white feather broiler) supply chain.
We
collected 67 samples from slaughtering and processing, including 56
samples of chicken and 11 samples of duck. Samples included segmentation
products such as chest, legs, wings, wing tips, and wing root, as well
as regulate products such as chicken fillet, cartilage & chicken,
and chicken cutlet. The impedance biosensors for rapid detection of salmonella
developed by China Agricultural University were applied in the tests.
The results were reported through a smartphone App with GPS location,
detection date and personnel information, which were finally sent via
GPRS wireless communication to the integrated system of salmonella monitoring and risk early warning for white broiler supply chain.
