On November 22-23, 2019, Prof. Yanbin Li was invited to visit the Wuhan Keqian Biological Co., Ltd and the Cooperative Innovation Center for Sustainable Pig Production in Huazhong Agricultural University. During the visit, Prof. Li discussed some issues about the Phase II of Walmart project with Prof. Huanchun Chen, Fellow of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
On November 22, 2019, Prof. Yanbin Li visited Wuhan Keqian Biological Co., Ltd, accompanied by Prof. Bin Wu, Associate Prof. Xiangru Wang and Associate Prof. Menghong Dai from Huazhong Agricultural University. Wuhan Keqian is a high-tech company focusing on the development, production, and sales of veterinary biological products, and their company provides animal epidemic prevention services. In the exhibition hall of the company, the staff there presented the information on the background, history and size of the company. In the past few years, they have developed a number of domestic vaccine products such as Haemophilus parasuis Bacterin (inactivated), Swine Infectious Pleuropneumonia Trivalent Vaccine (inactivated), Swine Streptococcosis Vaccine (inactivated, Streptococcus equi subsp.zooepidemicus + Streptococcus suis type 2+ Streptocoxxus suis type 7). Then, Prof. Li visited the Swine Vaccine Research Laboratory and Pet Vaccine Research Laboratory accompanied by the CTO.

On November 23, Prof. Li discussed with Prof. Huanchun Chen about the Walmart project. First, Prof. Huanchun Chen started with the problem of the increasing price of pork meat caused by the outbreak of African swine fever in China. He said that the safety of pork supply chain was a vital issue related not only to the economy development of this country, but also to the living standard of common people. He also mentioned that to ensure the safety of pork meat from "farm" to "table" was to protect the safety of every consumer. Then, Prof. Li shared his research experience in keeping the quality and safety of meat in poultry supply chain. He pointed out that it is important to integrate new information technologies, such as big data analytics, machine learning and blockchain to help ensure the safety of food supply chain. Finally, Prof. Jiangchao Zhao, Associate Professor from Department of Animal Science, University of Arkansas, said that it would be helpful to use some micro-ecological reagents for biological intervention to reduce the residue of chemical agents during breeding.
