The 2nd Global Food Safety Governance Forum, organized by the Walmart Food Safety Collaboration Center (WFSCC) and the Center for Coordination and Innovation of Food Safety Governance (Renmin University) was held in Beijing on November, 20, 2019. Prof. Yanbin Li was invited to give a speech in the meeting. Food safety experts, heads of industry organizations and business leaders from China and around the world united and further discussed on the best ways to build a network with shared interest for the community, and promote socially shared food safety governance through collaboration.
Prof. Yanbin Li gave a report about risk assessment and prediction of the foodborne diseases and the innovative technologies for food safety monitoring of food supply chain. He also introduced the Phase II of project "Poultry Excellence in China" supported by Wal-Mart Foundation. He mentioned Phase II of the project will focus on the applications of innovative science and technologies to the food supply chain.

Then, Prof. Yanbin Li was invited as a panelist in the panel discussion themed “Building Transparency Across the Supply Chain Through Innovation” and hosted by Mr. Tejas Bhatt, Senior Director of US & Global Food Safety Innovations of Walmart. Four projects founded by Walmart Walmart Foundation and supported by Walmart Food Safety Collaboration Center were presented during the panel, including “Poultry Excellence in China: Improving Food Safety of Poultry Supply Chains” by the University of Arkansas, “China Trusted Consumable Supply Chain Innovation Alliance” by Tsinghua University, “Supply Chain Excellence for Imported Fruits: Thai Durian” by Wageningen University, and “Modeling Approaches to Predict Shelf-Life, Food Quality, and Food Safety in China” by Cornell University.

In the afternoon, Prof. Yanbin Li and Prof. Martin Wiedmann from the Department of Food Science, Cornell University,had a meeting. Dr. Martin is the principal investigator of the project “Modeling Approaches to Predict Shelf-Life, Food Quality, and Food Safety in China” funded by Wal-Mart Foundation. They highly appreciated the contributions of the Wal-Mart Foundation to food safety in China and world. Then, they discussed the shelf life problems of vegetable and costs issues in cold chain transportation. Prof. Jianhan Lin and Dr. Fei Jia also participated in the meeting.
